Patella Subluxation causes discomfort and pain in the knee due to poor tracking of the patella along the trochlear groove. This condition can be caused by an abnormally wide pelvis, problems with an athlete’s gait, or a shallow trochlear groove. Complete dislocation of the kneecap is caused by severe trauma. Subsequent dislocations often occur after the original dislocation.
